Unbelievable benefits of drinking warm lemon water daily!

There’s no doubt about it; we need WATER to survive.

However, many of you may think drinking water is boring and tasteless. Did you know that something as simple as adding a lemon to your water, not only gives it flavor, but can improve your health significantly?

I started drinking warm lemon water in the morning as opposed to the usual coffee or tea that I started my day with.

The benefits of drinking warm lemon water daily are essential for your health and can literally change your body for the better on the inside and out.

It’s hard to imagine that something with only 2 ingredients can be so powerful.

  • In the morning

Drinking a glass of lemon water in the morning will go a long way. It will boost your energy and mood and it’s just what you need to get the day started.

I typically drink warm lemon water first thing in the morning. It’s not only very refreshing, but makes you feel more alert which usually takes a few hours after waking up.

Not to mention that most bad breath is caused by bacteria growth in the mouth.

Bad breath in the morning is due to decreased saliva production while we sleep.

Although there is nothing we can do to completely get rid of morning breath, there are certain things we can do to minimize it. Of course, it is super important to maintain a good oral hygiene routine.

That should be a top priority.

However, adding lemons to warm water and drinking it while it is warm can definitely help kill the bacteria.

The acidity of the lemon helps eliminate the bacteria from the mouth, preventing germs from staying and living there.

  • At night

Drinking warm lemon water at night will help improve circulation and remove toxins from your body. This is essential as we are exposed to toxins in the environment daily.

There’s no better way to flush out the toxins in your body than by drinking water at night.

It doesn’t get any simpler than that.

By doing so you are helping your body replenish what is lost during the day and as a result you will feel more energized in the morning.

  • Helps digestion

For those suffering from digestive problems, drinking warm lemon water can help improve your digestive tract making you less likely to feel bloated and suffer from constipation.

Drinking plenty of water throughout the day will soften your stool naturally which helps prevent constipation.

It is important to keep your digestive system on track to allow your body to absorb all the essential nutrients needed to stay healthy.

  • Immune system boost

The vitamin C contained in lemons can boost your immune system and help reduce the onset and severe symptoms of the common cold.

Drinking warm lemon water increases your intake of vitamin C.

Since our bodies do not produce vitamin C naturally, it is extremely important to ingest it daily to prevent our levels from dropping too quickly which can result in a weakened immune system leading to more serious health problems.

Studies have shown that doses of 1,000 mg per day plus a healthy and balanced diet (containing fruits and vegetables) can help improve your overall immune function.

It is said that if we wake up with a sore throat, one of the best and first things we should do is to drink warm lemon water. This is one of the most well known and most effective natural remedies.

As you read above, the Vitamin C in this fruit will give you a little immune boost each and every day. This helps in preventing any type of sickness in the first place.

Our society is so reactive to sickness instead of proactive. Most of the time we only do the things we need to do when we know we need to do them, instead of taking precaution.

That being said, drinking this daily will prevent you from getting sick in the first place.

Now, if the inevitable happens and you do get a sore throat, the natural antiseptic properties this drink has, will help kill the bacteria of a virus in the throat.

Lemon also being astringent, will help in shrinking the swollen throat tissue. Definitely, do try this if you are ever in this situation, but I hope you are not or ever will be!

  • Prevents kidney stones

One of the most painful experiences one can endure is kidney stones!

Some have even compared the pain of passing kidney stones equal to that of childbirth!

In short and not to get too medical here, kidney stones form when the urine doesn’t contain enough stone preventing substances, such as citrate.

The juice of a lemon is full of this citrate. With that said, every glass of lemon water will get a little more citrate in the urine and can help inhibit the formation of kidney stones.

Quite powerful for a drink so simple.

  • Helps with weight loss

Is lemon water good for weight loss? A common question and a great one at that.

Read Our Recent Article > How to Lose 40 Pounds Quickly!

Well let me answer it for you, YES! As we get older our metabolism slows down.

Just the facts of life, I know, it’s not fair! However, certain food and drink can help speed up your metabolism so we can burn calories faster as we did when we were kids.

This drink is one of them! Hopefully you are not drinking soda or coffee first thing in the morning or during your day at the office.

If so, replacing that with lemon water will definitely cut your calories down and drinking this regularly will keep your hydration up, digestion up, and assist in keeping your weight down.

  • Promotes hydration

Dehydration can lead to fatigue, lack of performance, and lack of focus.

Staying hydrated is an absolute necessity and keeps our bodies in check.

Lemons are packed with electrolytes so squeeze a little in your water instead of grabbing that sports drink that has electrolytes plus about a pound of sugar (Sorry Gatorade, Sorry Powerade, Sorry every other kind of -ade except homemade).

This homemade sports drink is one of the best sports drinks that your body can utilize and will thank you for.

  • Reduces stress

Most of us have heard of essential oils and the benefits they provide.

There is a reason why Lemon essential oil is one of the best selling of all citrus essential oils.

It is known to reduce stress when the smell of lemon is picked up by our noses.

How powerful is that!

Lemon water will help with the reduction in stress and depression.

Cortisol is widely called the “stress hormone”, it is released when we have to do public speaking, are overwhelmed at work, or just dealing with life in general.

Well I have good news for you!

Not only does the scent of lemon help, but the Vitamin C that you will get after drinking lemon water will also help minimize the effects of Cortisol anytime it is released in our body.

Yay lemons!

  • Warm vs cold

There’s no rule on whether you should drink warm lemon water vs cold lemon water, it all depends on your preference.

However, a few things to consider when drinking cold water is that it may be harmful for your organs.

Although cold water can be very refreshing, especially after an intense workout, your body has to work extra hard to warm up to its regular temperature and in turn slows down your digestive system.

I avoid drinking cold water, especially when experiencing menstrual cramps as cold water will only increase the pain.

Instead, I drink warm water to increase blood circulation to the uterus (sorry to all my male readers, this tip is for the females…)

This allows your uterine muscle to relax and the pain will eventually cease. Trust me your body will thank you afterwards.

There are many symptoms cold water can aggravate so be mindful if you have a cold or the flu.

Most health experts recommend drinking warm water if you are looking for ways to improve your health.

Nonetheless, under certain circumstances it’s probably not a good idea to drink warm water. Of course, use your best judgement especially post workout and during a hot summer day.

  • Healthy Skin

The many benefits of drinking warm lemon water not only provide unbelievable internal results, but offer amazing external results as well.

The vitamin C found in this small citrus fruit has many potent anti-aging properties that help minimize the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. It also improves damaged skin.

As I approach my 40’s, I can’t afford to ignore my skin as I once did in my younger days. Sound familiar?

Oh, to have known then what I know now, would have saved me quite a few frown lines and wrinkles…sigh.

Now I’m always looking for the best ways to take care of my skin. The goal is to do anything I possibly can to prevent and improve the inevitable… aging.

It is known that the high level of antioxidants found in lemons not only delay the formation of fine lines and wrinkles by stimulating collagen production, but reduces skin damage due to free radicals as well.

Free radicals are increased by exposure to the sun, pollution and chemicals which affect our skin cells and over time the cell damage contributes to the aging process.

Lemon water is also a detoxifier which helps with the appearance of acne and pores resulting from harmful toxins.

I can’t stress enough how important it is to have a daily skincare regimen.

If you don’t already have one, start today to get your skin looking youthful, healthy and beautiful.

This includes having daily skincare habits such as drinking plenty of water infused by fruits rich in vitamin C.

Start to incorporate drinking lemon water as a routine and watch the change happen before your eyes. You can see huge improvement by drinking a glass in the morning and at night.
